A message from Canonical: Change your name . . .

UPDATE: A name change survey is available here: http://u-lite.org/content/name-change-survey

I received an email today from Canonical. Apparently Ubuntulite, before my becoming the project leader, did not ask for a license to use Ubuntu in their name. I felt I should open this up to community discussion. The following is the email:

Hi,

I am proud to announce Ubuntulite 0.8 RC2

I would like to say that the bulk of updates are completed and should now be considered RC2. The major new feature with RC2 is the creation of a live CD that features an install feature that does not require the network! Note this CD is marked beta because it is still in the process of being improved.

Ubuntulite 0.8 RC1

I am now considering Ubuntulite 0.8 to be a release candidate. Because of this my developmental focus will shift now to producing an install CD and updating the site and the instructions found there. Thanks to everyone who has tried Ubuntulite 0.8 so far and to those who are still waiting to take the plunge. Let me know if you have any problems!

Ubuntulite 0.8 Updated

I just finished up some major updates to Ubuntulite 0.8. As I reported earlier in the forum, expect some slight breakage as I gave Ubuntulite a visual refresh and trimmed down the unneeded packages by moving the theme and such into the ubuntulite-default-settings package. Furthermore, that package now contains the fixes to little problems that I use to address in the install script. These changes were tested and preform as expected as far as I can tell. Let me know if you have any problems!
