No sound in ubuntulite hardy and perhaps the others.[solved]I solved this by installing gnome alsa mixer. In lxterminal "sudo apt-get install gnome-alsamixer" It will create a launcher under Applications/Audio & Video. Open the mixer, and unmute some things perhaps turn up the volume on some things. |

Solving ALSA sound problems: a word of caution
Really enjoying coming to grips with U-lite. Had a problem where I had sound but no mixer panel to adjust it. Tried the gnome-alsamixer fix as documented above and ran smack into a known bug where it generates illegal card and chipset names in the configuration file. All the fixes I looked at involved upgrading versions and still had some really nasty issues with dependencies. To cut to the chase went to Synaptic, removed gnome-alsamixer and installed alsamixergui. So far, everything is working ok!
Cheers!
a simple solution for a "big" problem
